Site Quiet Until Spring

With the snowfall in December, the work on the Tower has come to a halt. With snow and ice on everything, it is just too unsafe to work.

A January thaw has given the crew a chance to take down the scaffolding until work can be resumed. This was done to prevent unauthorized people from climbing while the site is dormant. As well, the configuration may have to be changed when work begins on the external staircase and observation deck in the spring.

Here we can see one of the new exterior or “storm” doors that have been installed. Note the iron strap hinges that are found on so many of the old gates and doors in the Chester area.
